Zagatala Regional Experimental Station is the only center of corn seeding. Joint project of the Ministry of Agriculture and AZERTAC

The Zagatala Region Experience Station is located in the foothills of the mountains. The station operating at the Agricultural Research Institute has a rich scientific and historical tradition. It was founded on the base of the tobacco station in 1924, and since then all of its activities have been focused on the development of agriculture. The directions of scientific research here are theoretical bases of genetics, physiology and biochemistry of plants, protection, selection and seed production, creation of high-quality, new varieties of cereals and legumes, organization of primary seed production and production of highly reproductive seeds.

AZERTAC presents an article by the agrarian expert Nicat Nasirli from the Zagatala Regional Experiment Station.

Staff of the station conducts research in 3 different areas of the region by selecting cereals and technical plants for better quality selection, hybrids, high-reproduction seeds and farms for state testing. Parsivan area is a foothill zone located 500 meters above sea level. Second, Tasanjol area - 300 meters above sea level. The third area of practice is the Danachi Prefecture. All these scientific directions are carried out by the 23-member staff of the plant's "Plant selection and seeding" and "Agriculture and plant diversification" departments.

Zagatala produces 80-100 tons of grain, 20-30 tons of high-yielding corn, and is recommended and recommended to public and private seed farms in the region.

While familiarizing with the activities of the station, it was stated that this is the only scientific base on which maze seeding is organized. That is why our conversation with collaborators was about local varieties of maze. Nabi Karimov, director of the station, PhD, said: “Our farmers should know that corn seeds are grown only at our station. Highly reproduced seeds grown every year are recommended for seed farms. Here the varieties of corn "Zaqatala-514", "Zaqatala-68", "Zagatala-420", "Zagatala-380", “Gurur”, “Umid”, “Fakhri”  were created and zoned. This season we offer 22 tons of local corn seeds to growers. Our entrepreneurs buy hybrid seeds from abroad for 10-15 manat, but we offer 1-1.5 manat.

Nargiz Abdullayeva, head of the station's department, Doctor of Philosophy in Agrarian Sciences, said that the seeds obtained in the local climate are better than hybrids: “The seeds we grow are in line with the climatic conditions of all regions. In order to get high yields of corn, it is important to carry out soil fertility measures, irrigation, disease and pest control, soaking, cultivation. According to observations in our farms, our corn farmers do not carry out the soil analysis while the fertilizers are dispersed unilaterally. Field cultivation should be based on soil analysis.

Atif Zamanov, deputy director of the Research Institute of Crop Husbandry, who conducts phonological0 observations in the fields of the station, also gave scientific advice to landowners who have been sowing corn this season:
