There was held scientifical-practic coferance on “Prospects for the development of tobacco-growing in Azerbaijan and the application of international experience” with the participation of an international expert in Shaki. The conference was attended by scientists and specialists from the Research Institute of Crop Husbandry, Sheki Regional Agrarian Science and Innovation Center, tobacco farmers of the region, heads and specialists of Shaki SAIC, companies engaged in tobacco production and processing in the republic. Opening the conference, Director of Shaki SAIC Mehman Yusifov said that agriculture, especially its tobacco industry, is one of the strategic sectors in the country's economy, with more than 90% of total tobacco plantations in Shaki-Zagatala economic region. Javanshir Talai, Director of the Research Institute of Crop Husbandry, made a presentation on the theme:"The forthcoming tasks of the Institute of Agriculture ET in the scientific development of tobacco in Azerbaijan".
