A meeting was held at the Research Institute of Crop husbandry with the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus

A delegation led by World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, Sebastian Molineus, held a meeting on 04 July 2019 at the Research Institute of Crop Husbandry. The head of the World Bank Office in Azerbaijan, Navid Hasan Najvi and other senior officials were also present at the meeting. Opening the meeting, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Seyfaddin Talibov welcomed the guests and said that the World Bank is one of the largest and necessary donor organizations serving the economic development goals, its invaluable role in the provision of financial support to the agricultural sector of Azerbaijan, The objectives and components of the Rural Competitiveness Project, the strengthening of the material and technical basis of the Research Institute of Crop Husbandry within this project, the role of innovative technologies in competitive products production, and other issues.

World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, Sebastian Molineus, expressed his deep gratitude to the Ministry of Agriculture for effective cooperation and activities in the agrarian sector. He spoke about the impact of the World Bank on agricultural development in Azerbaijan and the effectiveness of the projects implemented, further strengthening cooperation in the field of application and promotion of innovative technologies in the agrarian sector, promoting the future competitive products of the represented organization, the agrarian research and education projects implemented in Azerbaijan, in the field of development.

Director of the Institute of Research Institute of Crop Husbandry, Javanshir Talai gave detailed information on the role of projects implemented by the World Bank in modernization of the institute, improvement of research programs, strengthening of material and technical basis. Then the event participants visited the "Grain Quality Laboratory" of the Research Institute of Crop Husbandry, seed processing enterprise and other spheres. Here, they examined the equipment provided by the World Bank and were familiarized with the work done. The participants of the meeting highly appreciated the results of the support provided to the institute's research and varieties development program.

At the end of the meeting, it was noted that the World Bank's support for the development of the agrarian sector in Azerbaijan remains a priority.
